President and CEO

Thomas E. Brenan, IV, President and Chief Executive Officer of Altus, is responsible for the strategic development and management of Altus’ receivables management and commercial debt recovery business line in the United States and Canada.

Previously, Brenan was Chief Operating Officer and a founding member of Newton & Associates, a commercial collection agency that was acquired by Altus in 2006.

Brenan’s business management and collection experience spans 20 years. He supervised the accounting department of Napoleon Services, a subsidiary of Cargill, Inc. He worked at Arthur Young & Company, and also served as Chief Financial Officer for the central region of one of the country’s largest collection agencies.

A native of New Orleans, Brenan is a Certified Public Accountant, receiving his BS and CPA certification from the State of Louisiana. He also earned a Master’s in Business Administration degree from the University of New Orleans. A Vietnam-era veteran, Brenan served in the United States Air Force for seven years attaining the rank of Captain. Brenan currently serves on the Board of Directors for the IACC.

Jim McDermott

Chief Operating Officer

Jim McDermott is responsible for the day-to-day operations of five locations and over 200 employees.

McDermott monitors and analyzes performance across all platforms, facilitating weekly, monthly and quarterly business review processes. In addition, he manages the relationships with Altus’ network of attorneys and global partners.

McDermott was recruited in 1998 to target the northwest market for the agency. In just over three years, the Vancouver branch was the largest profit center in the agency and McDermott was promoted to Branch Manager of Vancouver, Washington.

Under McDermott’s management, the Vancouver branch grew by more than 250% to over $8 million in revenue. In 2009, McDermott was promoted to Chief Operations Officer for all corporate operations. McDermott earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Western Washington University, Bellingham, WA. He currently serves on the Board of the Commercial Law League of America (CLLA) and the International Association of Commercial Collectors (IACC).

Bryan Clancy

Executive Vice President, Sales

As Executive Vice President of Sales, Bryan Clancy translates his experience into strategy and execution to meet the business demands and goals of Altus.

Clancy has been in the financial services industry for 25 years with more than half of those years focused on business process outsourcing. He began at NCO in new client sales where he quickly became one of the top producers. Clancy was later recruited by Coface Collections North America, Inc. (Altus), where he significantly increased new client business and revenue production within the new sales department.

After transferring to New Jersey to open a new office as a branch manager, Clancy quickly grew the branch from two to 20 salespeople, consistently outperforming all growth and profitability goals, while developing some of Altus’ most successful and integral sales representatives and sales managers. He was promoted and served as the Senior Vice President of New Client Development and Training for three years. Clancy is an IACC certified commercial collector.

Joe DeLuca

Chief Compliance Officer

Joe DeLuca is responsible for managing cross-company business processes and data analytics, where he focuses on global company strategy, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, strategic partnerships, and Altus’ Affiliate program. He is a member of the Value Creation team at NewSpring Capital, a $1.5 billion private equity investment firm.

DeLuca previously served as the Managing Director at Intrepid Capital Partners, a $1 billion family office private equity firm. He was also Director at Safeguard International Fund, a $370 million private equity fund, where he was responsible for formulating and executing company strategy on a global scale. As an experienced board member, DeLuca executed company turnarounds, acquisition integrations, operations improvement, finance and growth strategies. His strategic business implementations have driven over $1 billion in public capital markets transactions, including leading two IPO processes and a public bond issuance and rating.

Previously, DeLuca was a consultant for seven years with McKinsey & Company, where he focused on operations improvement and strategies for global businesses. His early career began as a semiconductor manufacturing engineer at Motorola. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Steve Michaelson

Chief Technology & Security Officer

Steve Michaelson is responsible for global security operations and supervises the growth and implementation of Altus technology strategies worldwide. Michaelson manages the operations of infrastructure, security, data protection, disaster recovery and ARM Strong; Altus’ industry-leading technology that provides a fully integrated solution for all BPO functions.

Michaelson brings more than 40 years of operational and executive experience, building and leading large enterprises in the development and delivery of software with specializations in interoperability, insurance, healthcare and information analytics. Michaelson joins Altus from Quest Software, where he was the Research and Development Executive responsible for software release management, storage management and data protection technologies. Michaelson also served Quest Software’s Director of Distribution Channels and Business Development.

Michaelson founded Computer Management Resources in 1989. As Chairman and CEO, Michaelson quickly added more than 125 consultants to CMR, which became recognized nationally for its leading expertise in software solutions for the route distribution industry. CMR was acquired in 1997 by Enherent Corp., a publicly held custom software development firm serving financial industries. There, Steve served as Senior Vice President for Mergers and Acquisitions and Chief Information Officer, where he implemented and grew certified development centers globally, earning him the CIO-100 Award.

Christina Reed

Marketing Director

As Marketing Director, Christina is responsible for strategic positioning and lead generation by linking the innovations of the company’s technology team with the customer-focused approach of the sales and operations units.  Christina integrates her background in enhancing client experiences to deliver an integrated marketing and brand strategy that effectively communicates Altus’ brand value while growing market share.

In this role, she oversees the management of Altus’ brand, including customer insights, digital marketing, creative development and agency management, marketing effectiveness, social media, sponsorships, as well as corporate communications.

Christina has over 20 years of B2B marketing leadership, sales and operations experience at Fortune 500 telecommunications firms CenturyLink and Qwest Communications. She holds a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of New Orleans.
